The next Johannesburg branch meeting for 2008 will be on 13 February 18h00 for 18h30, at Rivonia Recreation Club, during which we will have our Branch Annual General Meeting. Our branch chairman, Paulo da Silva, will present a Cameo of what took place across 2007, with some of the highlights as part of his Chairman's Report, instead of us having a separate speaker as we did at the last AGM. This will be followed by a braai and some networking and socialising.
Anyone interested in serving on the branch committee can contact a committee member to indicate their willingness and availability. The Branch Chairman will send out nomination forms under a separate mail to the members for their nominations. Remember this is your committee. If you are happy with how the branch is run come to the AGM and say so. If not, raise your suggestions, comments and complaints at the AGM.
Note: Members in good standing are members whose membership fees are paid up to date and against whom no action is being taken in accordance with Clause 17 of the Constitution, and may thus exercise their vote at the AGM or appoint a proxy to vote on their behalf if they cannot attend the AGM.
Proxies: Any member may appoint a proxy, who shall be a member of the Institute, in good standing, to attend any meeting of the Institute the member is qualified to attend and speak and vote on the member's behalf. Such proxy shall be lodged with the general secretary of the Institute, for General Meetings, and with the branch secretary for Branch Meetings, not less than 24 hours prior to the meeting. To obtain the necessary proxy form please contact Bill Steenberg on 083 949 8104 or e-mail him on [email protected]. The council's AGM will be held in March 2008.
