4Sight OT Automation receives Schneider Sustainability Impact Award

June 2025 News

4Sight OT Automation is the winner of the Schneider Electric Sustainability Impact Award in South Africa. The company received the award for commendable efforts made to support their customers in their decarbonisation efforts this year. This included the Load Curtailment Response project at the Tharisa Mine where the implementation of real-time power monitoring and the automation of six 1,6 MVA generators reduced both their runtime and load, resulting in a saving of approximately 2000 kg of CO2 emissions for each hour of runtime reduced.

The awards are part of Schneider Electric’s efforts to support partners, customers and suppliers who are under pressure to reach their sustainability goals from their shareholders, customers, employees and the younger generation.

Schneider Electric facilitates sustainable practices with initiatives that transfer knowledge and build expertise towards executing a sustainability strategy. These include digital tools to assess and address operations and to enhance the efficiency of project functions throughout product life cycles and technology solutions and ESG practices to accelerate decarbonisation throughout the value chain.

Ahmed El-Besary, vice president of Channel Sales and Marketing, Anglophone Africa at Schneider Electric said: “I would like to extend my congratulations to 4Sight OT Automation for their remarkable achievement in transforming sustainability ambitions into tangible actions. It’s vital for businesses to not only focus on their own operations, but also consider the broader impact they have across their value chain. Equally important is identifying those they can support along the journey. Achieving Net Zero is a shared objective and it requires a collective effort. By collaborating to share best sustainable practices we can help our customers on their path to decarbonisation.”

Christa Dowd, digital energy lead at 4Sight OT Automation said: “We are incredibly proud to be recognised for the shared commitment between our teams at 4Sight and Tharisa in driving sustainable progress. This recognition from Schneider highlights our strong focus on collaborating with customers to achieve their sustainability targets. We understand the increasing pressure on businesses to demonstrate tangible progress toward Net Zero as we approach 2050. By providing innovative digital energy solutions and working closely with our customers, we are committed to guiding them through this journey and helping them reach their sustainability goals. This award is a testament to the vision and dedication we bring to every partnership.”

JC du Preez, digital & automation manager at Tharisa Mine added: “The ‘i’ in Tharisa stands for Innovation. Through our partnership with 4Sight OT Automation and their implementation of Schneider Electric Power Monitoring Expert we’ve gained crucial operational insights that have significantly reduced carbon emissions. This award validates our innovative approach, which is delivering measurable value to the sustainable mining charter with approximately 2000 kg of CO2 emissions saved for each hour of reduced generator runtime.”

The Schneider Electric Sustainability Impact Awards were launched in 2022 to celebrate and recognise the pivotal role that Schneider’s extensive network of partners play in delivering a more resilient and sustainable electric world. Now in its third year, participants continue to be carefully assessed on how they are leveraging energy and automation solutions in operations, reducing energy usage, increasing operational efficiency and embracing circularity across the value chain.

“Innovation is in the DNA of 4Sight with the focus on automated intelligence driven on the five pillars of digital transformation: People, Stakeholders, Operations, Finance and Innovation. Data has become any company’s most valuable asset and the process of structuring the data to go from hindsight to foresight and the automation of the processes and value add around every case, guarantees cost savings and real-time decision support for business”, says Tertius Zitzke, CEO of 4Sight Holdings, and winner of the Innovator of the Year Award at the 12th All African Business Leaders Awards 2024.
