Automation ans system integration capability from electrical contractor.

Tronelec, an associated company of Electron specialising in PLC/scada applications, is offering a complete automation and system integration capability. These services combine to enable Electron to offer the market a full, turnkey electrical contracting capability.

Tronelec was established in February 1998 and operates from Electron's Wynberg premises in order to provide simple, cost-effective and up to date technological solutions to wide ranging process automation applications. The company has extensive experience in water and sewage treatment, materials handling, cement, high-speed packaging, fire pump systems and various process plant applications.

Tronelec provides a full range of automation services, from project management, engineering design, functional description writing and hardware purchase, to PLC programming and scada configuration. Comprehensive documentation, training and commissioning support is also offered. Tronelec has been appointed as a VAR (value added retailer) for Siemens, is an authorised distributor for Schneider Automation and is an accredited integrator for Adroit Systems.

"Our independence ensures our customer base of the best possible solution to their control needs. We are able to analyse the requirement, recommend the optimum hardware choice and implement the ideal software solution - tailored to the specific demands of each project," states Patrick Fritz of Tronelec.

Over the past 18 months the company has undertaken projects which include a new cement mill in Richards Bay, Cement Silo Aeration in Mozambique, an upflow coalescing filter plant for a major steel producer, and the upgrading of an ironside pumping station in the water supply industry.

Tronelec was recently awarded a contract for the control portion of two filter presses that are being installed at a coal mine in Delmas. A Siemens S7 PLC will be used to control the presses and the existing In-Touch scada system will have several mimics added to it to allow for operator interface to the plant. They have also been awarded a contract for the automation of a water treatment works at a Coca-Cola plant in Angola. A Siemens S7 PLC as well as an OP7 MMI for operator interface will be supplied to control the plant.

Tronelec is staffed and managed by qualified engineers with more than 20 years of combined expertise in PLC/scada technology.
