MeasureTech
Established in 1966, Besta has based its prolific international growth on the Tri-mod level switch which can be manufactured to perform almost any level switch application in any industry.
The modular design allows individual and numerous combinations of float, flange and switch combinations to suit specific application requirements and are available in electric, electronic or pneumatic output versions for either side mount or top mount installation.
Versatile designs include operating temperatures from -196 to +400°C, pressures from vacuum to Class 2500# (and higher) and they also allow for submersible applications. Hazardous and intrinsically safe area switches are available in various styles with numerous switching functions to suit any criteria.
Other applications catered for include contaminated or crystallising processes, interface applications, low-density fluids, high purity systems and highly corrosive media. Pneumatic valve control, proportional control, pump control with differential switching and sump control as well as adjustable operating switch differential are all options included in the versatile range of Besta switches. Where space in a vessel is restricted, or process isolation is required for maintenance or testing, the switches can be mounted in an external float chamber. These chambers are also available in numerous configurations to suit many applications. A useful feature of the Tri-mod design is the ability for the switch to be specified in areas where existing older and defunct units exist. The Besta switches can be manufactured to fit into any existing float switch application.
Industries making effective use of Besta float switches include chemical and petroleum, marine (including bilge pump applications), power plants, food and beverage, offshore industries, waterworks and paper and pulp amongst many others. Other Besta products include capacitance level transmitters, electronic probe level switches and optoelectronic level sensors.
Swiss-based Besta AG, one of the world's foremost international level manufacturing and supply companies, is solely represented in southern Africa by MeasureTech, a Tyco International company.

Level measurement of leachate from sewage sludge humification
Level Measurement & Control
A municipal utility in eastern Germany operates a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant with sustainable sludge treatment. The ultrasonic signal was being partially deflected by the wind, leading to frequent false measurements and inefficient process workflows. The problem was solved by replaced the ultrasonic level sensor with KROHNE’s OPTIWAVE 1540 non-contact radar.
