Economical burner control system
March 2003
Sensors & Transducers
Durag has introduced the 55 series, an economical burner control system for continuous and intermittent operation. The units are designed to monitor and control gas and oil burners in small heating plants or process combustion systems through to thermal waste incinerators.
The D-GF 55 burner control unit provides ignition and solenoid valve control as well as flame monitoring. It is ready for use when connected to the power supply. An ambient light test is carried out until the ignition sequence is enabled, and if a flame is detected, the unit immediately shuts down. The unit can be reset manually or by using the remote reset line. Two versions are available for either continuous or intermittent operation.
The UV flame monitor consists of a flame sensor and control unit. The flame sensor is directly mounted on the burner, while the control unit can be placed inside a cabinet. Spectral sensitivity is 190 to 270 nm, and all blue-burning flames may be monitored. Durag's IR flame monitor has a spectral sensitivity of 780 to 1100 nm and only signals that correspond to flame flickering are processed. The device is suitable for all kinds of oil burners. Included in the series is an ionisation flame monitor for gas and oil burners as well as ignitors with integrated ionisation rods. It is suitable for both continuous and intermittent operation.
All units meet IP 20 requirements and are supplied in robust plastic enclosures for DIN rail mounting. Wiring diagrams printed on the front panel provide a guide for easy connection and the LED display provides an overview of the operational status.
