Thin client terminals from Phoenix Contact provide a basis for modern networked operation and monitoring. These diskless embedded PCs (up to 750 MHz), protection category IP54/65, have a robust and compact cast aluminium housing that allows use virtually anywhere. Embedded operating systems such as Windows XP Embedded or Windows CE do not require a hard drive. They are particularly suited to use in vibration environments. An integrated wireless network card and DC and AC power supplies enable mobile applications as well.
High-grade TFT displays with touchscreens and the Ethernet networking concept give the devices universal application possibilities. They can be used as Web panels with an integrated browser, or as remote operating stations. VT220 or X-terminal applications present no problems.
NetCap, an industrial-specification remote operating software, make these terminals into a distributed, mobile control system in widely spread facilities. NetCap enables distributed operation and monitoring with up to nine operating stations, as all screens display the same 'monitor image'. An integrated user manager for passwords or even key switches prevents simultaneous operation by different users when there are multiple operating stations.
