NewElec is offering a compact range of chassis-mounted, microprocessor-based motor protection relays that are designed for low voltage pump motors. The K Series offers complete protection while allowing the pump to operate at its optimum rating. All relays in the range are supplied with integrated current transformers, which permit direct connection into the main circuit of the protected motor for currents up to and including 25 A. For currents above 25 A, use is made of interposing current transformers having a 5 A secondary. The latter is then wired through the integrated relay's CTs.
The relays are suitable for motor full load currents ranging from 0,1 to 200 A. They are designed to provide true accurate IEC 255-8 thermal curves, Class 15 cold and Class 5 hot, complete with full thermal memory and pre-loaded curves on power-up.
Typically, protection is provided against phase rotation, over- and under-voltage, phase voltage symmetry, over- and under-current, phase imbalance/loss and running stall protection. The K Series offers user-selectable auto/manual reset on overload trips - which can be limited to three per hour. The user-selectable time delay period timer is able to restart the motor after an under-load trip, and clearly visible LEDs indicate all fault conditions. Their compact design minimises cubicle space and the relays are supplied with a one-year warranty.
