Mitech's boiler feed-water leak-off valves protect boiler feed-water pumps from operating at too low a flow rate. The Mitech valves, which were used in a recent application, replaced other types that caused cavitation damage and valve washout during closing.
In a typical application it was necessary for Mitech's valves to operate with a maximum 159 m3/h flow rate and an inlet pressure of 21,8 MPa (218 bar). It was also essential to have a 21,5 MPa (215 bar) pressure drop and the ability to operate in a 120°C temperature range. The client also required a fail open operation with open/under spring tension without air.
A stainless steel energy dissipating disk stack with stellite coated seat and plug with a PTFE soft insert was chosen as the trim. The body of the valve was an angle control valve with a studded flange and is rated to ANSI 2500. The actuator used was a pneumatic piston type with an open-spring fail position.
Mitech's boiler feed-water leak-off valves are able to eliminate excessive damage to the body and trim assemblies during operation.
