A range of specialised dart valves is designed and manufactured by Mitech according to the client's specifications. Both plug and seat can be made from various materials, however, the most popular is polyurethane, which is particularly good on abrasive applications at temperatures up to 60°C. These dart control valves are used mainly on cyclone and flotation cells at gold and platinum mines to control the level of solution in the tanks.
A major feature of the design is that it is totally self-contained allowing the entire unit to be changed quickly and easily. Stainless steel mounting bars are used to raise the actuator (double acting or spring return) out of the medium, and the need for shaft guiding is eliminated as the plug head is guided between the three mounting bars.
Many different actuator options can be offered, such as hand-wheel override or electro-pneumatic or pneumatic positioners. An anti-clogging design plug (profile on back end of plug) for flow-over applications can be fitted. Dart valves can be either flow-over or flow-under depending on the application.
