I/O terminations for the petrochemical industry

In a typical situation in the petrochemical industry, in the case of tank farms for example, a central data base system is in operation to which both the PCS (process control system) and the BMS (business management system) levels have access. The result is a direct link between the management level and the tanks in the plant.
The I/O connections must be made close to the tank instrumentation. Both digital and analog I/Os are required in addition to possible special components such as counters. The Wago I/O system 750, with its large number of rail-mounted bus modules provides the ideal solution. The 750 system is very flexible, for example, to wire a new sensor up to the next control box (field distributor) simply means snapping an additional module into an existing node. Expensive extra couplers and an intervention in the bus network are not required.
Available from HellermannTyton, the Wago I/O 750 system fieldbus independent bus modules allow the realisation of user-specific fieldbus nodes. The modular design permits the flexible combination of digital and analog I/Os. Different potentials, powers and measuring signals can be processed on one single node. Bus couplers for all important fieldbus systems are available. (The picture shows the I/O connections close to the tank instrumentation, as distributed automation practice would require.)
