Solid-state contactors and thyristors for any loads

October 2002 Motion Control & Drives

One of the advantages of the Eurotherm 7100 range of solid-state switching devices is that it is available for simple resistive loads, short wave infrared (SWIR) loads, or virtually any load including inductive, transformer and high temperature coefficient resistive loads. Available from Protea Automation Solutions, they provide fast switching with no wear, are quiet in operation and generate no interference.

The 7000L is designed for simple single-phase low temperature coefficient resistive loads. The range of current ratings is from 16 to 100 A, and voltages up to 500 V. The unit provides effective replacement for electromechanical power contactors. They are suitable for the control of furnaces, extrusion and injection moulding machines, heat treatment and air conditioning applications.

The 7000S is an intelligent solid-state contactor for use on single or three-phase low temperature coefficient resistive or short wave IR loads. The current range extends from 16-630 A, and voltages up to 690 V. The power components are designed to drive short wave IR (SDWIR) sources as well as low temperature coefficient resistive loads. Options include diagnostic load and short circuit thyristor fault detection, load failure detection, and over-temperature alarm. Digital communication is included.

The 7000A is an advanced power thyristor for single-phase and three-phase loads of virtually all types. Current ratings are from 16-630 A, and voltages up to 690 V. The 7000A has all the features of the 7000S and is suitable for applications involving heat treatment for metals, glass, semiconductor applications, and induction heaters.
