Cost saving valves for the mining industry

May 2000 Flow Measurement & Control

Ragon Industries has developed a valve for abrasive applications such as the pumping of slurry in mines. The valve offers a saving in maintenance costs of approximately 5:1.

In a recent application at a phosphoric mine near Phalaborwa, the valve liner in a slurry line needed to be replaced every two weeks. The original valve was replaced with a Ragmax 2000. The payback period was one month and after seven months there was still no visual wear on the diaphragm.

Other characteristics of the valve include linear control and failsafe option.
