Pressure Measurement & Control

Pressure switches suitable for up to 1 MPa

July 2002 Pressure Measurement & Control

SMC offers a wide range of pressure sensors for general use on pneumatic systems as well as for fluids compatible with SUS304 and SUS630. These include remote, digital, and mechanical type switches for pressures up to 1 MPa.

A remote sensor, PSE, offers IP66 protection and high accuracy, with the output displayed on an LED screen that has a built-in keypad. This controller can process the information from two remote sensors and has a selection of outputs (two channels), and a hysteresis or window comparator function option.

The ISE range of pressure switches includes all the features of the remote switch as well as NPN, PNP or 1-5 V analog outputs and a backlit option. They come with one or two outputs, depending on the model. Both the remote PSE and the ISE are also available as vacuum switches. The ISE devices exhibit a standard protection to IP40, but this may be increased to IP67 when using a special enclosure. Compact in size, (30 x 30 mm) the ISE comes in a panel-mount or standard, 1/8" BSPT, screw-in version. A keypad on the face of the gauge allows for the setting of the hysteresis or window comparator parameters and the reversal of the switching function, as per the PSE.

IS3000 series mechanical air pressure switches may operate with an AC or DC supply, with currents up to 10 mA and they can interface directly with PLCs, relays etc. The GP46 pressure gauge and switch combination is suitable for visual confirmation as well as configured as normally open or normally closed by means of a micro switch inside the gauge. An LED on the face of the gauge makes this mechanical pressure switch a convenient and simple pressure-monitoring device.
