Control Roadshow finds Witbank alive and well

June 2002 News

Nearing the end of April, and with Electrex 2002 now behind us, it was once again time to show off some control and instrumentation products to the communities of Witbank and Middleburg. Initially we caused some confusion as this year the plan was to host the exhibition in Middleburg, but due to a lack of suitable venues, the show was kept at the Witbank City Hall. We apologise to anyone that was misguided by our prior schedules, however as a travelling exhibition we are totally dependent on available venues. A large number of these venues are now privately owned, and the owners can and do change their minds at the last minute which does not help our long term planning. Municipal venues on the other hand tend to be smothered in political agendas - which can also put a strain on one's sense of humour.

Nevertheless at 12:00 on 26 April the doors opened to visitors at the Witbank Control Roadshow with a steady stream of visitors throughout the day. The show this year was also attended by the local Witbank branch of the SAIMC, and the organiser believes some significant new contacts were made with visitors to the show. Visitors from all the surrounding industries registered at the show including iron and steel, mining and power generation.

Once again the industry suppliers to this community presented a commendable display of available technology and state of the art equipment, and were represented by the following organisations; AC/DC Dynamics, Adroit Technologies, Airtech, Anglo Allied Engineering, Ascoreg, ATC, Autotech Weighing Systems, Burkert Contromatic, Citect SA, Control Techniques, Danfoss, Flexible Electronic Systems, Flowserve, Futuristix, HTC Enclosures, Ind Auto & Control, J Coetzer Industries, KAB Instruments, Loadtech, Mega Measurement, N & Z Instrumentation, National Instruments, Pinnacle Instruments, PREI Instrumentation, Process Valves, RS Components SA, Rockwell Automation, SAIMC, Spectrum Communication, Sperogroup, Streamworks, The Instruman, Thermo Ramsey, TM Automation, Vega, WNIP Magazine, Wika Instruments, Yokogawa SA.

Further shows for 2002 include Phalaborwa, Secunda, Port Elizabeth, Vaal Triangle, Mossel Bay and the Northern Cape (Lime Acres).
