Effective, easy-to-use linear positioners

Damper control, gate valve positioning, process control via linear actuators or linear actuated valves or any other linear position control can be easily and accurately achieved with the IP200 series positioners from SMC. The IP 200 positioner can be mounted onto cylinders up to 300 mm bore with a maximum stroke of 500 mm, providing precise and stable control while also being easy to mount and just as easy to operate and setup.
Span adjustment and zero position can be accurately set within minutes. The IP200 has a sensitivity that is within 0,5% of the full span, linearity within (2%, hysteresis within 1% and repeatability within 1% of the full span. Supply pressure is standard 0,3-0,7 MPa and signal pressure between 0,02 and 0,1 MPa.
Related equipment includes a reversing relay, 2801 series, which takes the incoming pressure signal and inverts its value so as to get the positioner to move in the opposite direction to the original signal. Lock-up valves, IL200 series, function as safety valves locking in the downstream pressure when the set pressure limit is reached, thus preventing actuators from creeping under their own weight when system pressure drops. Once the set pressure is again reached the valve opens, unlocking the cylinder, and the system functions normally.
I/P converters, ITV 2000/3000 series, take the electrical analog signal and convert it into a pneumatic signal that would in turn drive the positioner. The I/P can have various input signal types varying from the standard 4 to 20 mA to 0 to 10 V d.c. and at the same time give the option of 1 to 5 V d.c. output, amongst others output and input options.
The positioner could also be controlled via a precision regulator, IR series, which would be a manual but accurate way of position control in the event that only one or two positions may be required, with the change in the set position being very seldom. This system would however be prone to fluctuation, as change in supply pressure to the regulator would affect its final output signal.

Pneumatics & Hydraulics
Those working with hydraulic or pneumatic systems know that keeping your machinery running at peak performance balances productivity and cost. As systems age, they often become less efficient, requiring more energy and more frequent repairs. The good news is that you don’t always need to invest in an entirely new machine to solve these problems.
