Hirschmann produces a fast connection system for sensors and actuators with M12 connectors. Varioquick, a fast connection system developed by Hirschmann with the patented CDI (conductor displacement interconnect) connecting technology makes assembly without crimping, soldering or screwing possible. No special tools are needed. The cable is simply stripped and the individual leads inserted in the colour-coded sections of the strand holder. When the Varioquick is connected, special contact pins integrated in the sensors and actuators axially pierce the leads of the cable to be connected. Because Hirschmann has colour-coded the sections of the strand holder in accordance with EN 50 044, it is practically impossible to make mistakes in polarity while making the connection and assembly is made much easier.
The contact pins are designed in such a way that standard M12 cable sockets can be connected as well as the Varioquick fast connection system. This is a distinct advantage compared with other fast connection systems available on the market, says Hirschmann.
The elimination of the time-consuming processes of crimping, soldering and screwing, using Varioquick significantly reduces throughput times in batch production or in assembly on site.
