Adroit's software reliability has played an integral role in the excellent power supply record at two major casinos. Grand West Casino in Cape Town was the site for the first Adroit scada Version 4.2 to be installed earlier this year. This was the second casino application for Adroit Technologies, the first one being at Carnival City in Gauteng, two years ago.
Circon Systems, an Adroit Technologies systems integrator, was responsible for the installation of the scada system that manages the monitoring of power failures on the switchgear and the power consumption at Grand West. It is also configured to control the street lighting outside the casino and the neon lighting inside. Any failures occurring are communicated via the internal network to the technical staff within the casino.
The installation of Adroit scada 4.1 at Carnival City was a larger enterprise. The system monitors the diesel generating plant for emergency power, the incoming heavy current (11 kV) power from the municipality, the pumps circulating hot water and the boilers. It also monitors and controls the water features, including the massive fountain at the entrance to the casino, the casino's escalators, freezers and deep freezers. It includes a full paging system capable of alerting staff throughout the building should there be a failure.
Circon Systems, a subsidiary of the well established emergency power company, Circon (who installed the diesel generating plants at both casinos) was confident in their choice of Adroit as an integrated, user-friendly system with a proven track record.
