Autonics BJ series photoelectric sensors

April 2015 Sensors & Transducers

Autonics has introduced its general purpose BJ series photoelectric sensors to the South African automation industry. The sensors provide top quality performance at low cost, promising improved productivity and profitability for users. These compact sensors are available in various detection methods and types, and are ideal in a wide range of industrial automation applications.

The through-beam method long distance sensors offer sensing distances up to 15 m and the retro-reflective type feature MSR (mirror surface rejection) functionality for detection of mirrors and mirror-like objects. The transparent object detection sensors utilise diffuse reflective methods and provide stable detection of objects such as glass and LCD and PDP panels. The BGS reflective sensors feature background suppression function, which minimise influence from background objects as well as colour or material of the detecting target. The narrow beam reflective method micro spot sensors can detect minute objects including copper wire as small as 0,2 mm diameter. The BGS reflective and micro spot type sensors both feature visible spots to aid users to identify detection positions.

Performance and user friendliness are features of all BJ series sensors. Improved noise resistance and reduced influence from external light sources are standard and the entire line-up also features built-in reverse polarity protection circuit and output short circuit protection circuits. Sensitivity adjuster is available for convenient distance setting (except transparent object detection types) and a light on/dark on switch is available for quick shifting between the two detection modes.

The BJ sensors are easy to install using standard M3 screws and configuration can be completed easily using the adjusters. Bright stability indicator and operation indicators make it easy for users to check the status of their operation. The long detection distance models are also available in connector types, adding flexibility and convenience in installation and maintenance of the units.
