Beyond Wireless goes global

January 2015 News

Beyond Wireless, a provider of turnkey machine-to-machine solutions and services is now operating in 18 countries including Australia and the United States. The company provides remote temperature monitoring devices (RTMD) and related services to clients around the globe, with a specific focus on the healthcare and pharmaceutical cold chain industry.

In 2012, Beyond Wireless obtained its PQS (performance, quality and safety) certification from the World Health Organization (WHO), which has been key to its expansion, particularly in the field of vaccine fridge monitoring. Beyond Wireless CEO Ian Lester says that becoming an approved supplier to the WHO has been a big step forward for the company, opening the door to numerous groundbreaking projects beyond the borders of South Africa.

“For the past 18 months, we’ve been involved in a project in the Republic of Haiti in collaboration with the US Government Centre for Disease Control (CDC), UNICEF and the Haitian Ministry of Health, where our technology is being used to evaluate the vaccine cold chain,” he says. “We have more than 40 of our RTMDs monitoring vaccine fridges throughout the country, some of which are solar-powered and others mains-powered. We’re also working with the International Committee for the Red Cross in vaccine cold chain monitoring.

The company plans continued expansion into countries where its vaccine temperature monitoring solution can assist in managing and improving the pharmaceutical cold chain, as well as developing new partnerships and opportunities within the territories where it is currently operating.
