Minipac from Schroff

Minipac from Schroff is a handy small case which is as variable as customer requirements. It can mount on a wall, mounting plate or DIN horizontal rail and can also be used as a desktop enclosure. It accommodates non-standardised and standardised electronics and is highly robust.
The enclosure offers protection up to IP40 and allows optimal heat dissipation through large aluminium surfaces. It is versatile in use as a single-board computer module for example in railway systems, test and measurement, data and network systems or industry.
Minipac can accept up to four standardised PCBs (160 mm x 100 mm) or up to eight boards (160 mm x 60 mm) in its rectangular profile, at a spacing of 2 HP, or various board sizes – 50, 60 or 65 mm wide – at a separation of 3 HP in its trapezoidal profile.
Marcel van Zijl, production manager at TLC Engineering Solutions explains a mining application the company recently developed using Schroff Minipacs. “Hothole sensors are used on open-cast mines to monitor temperature variations inside blasting holes prior to filling them with explosives. Typically 10 to 20 of these sensors would send their temperature and geo-location data to one ‘Replicator’ which connects to a laptop via the USB port. Here the data gets recorded and analysed over a period of time. The Schroff Minipac provided us with an ideal housing for the Replicator.”
