Mitech’s steam-atomised desuperheaters serve a wide range of applications. They are ideally suited for installations requiring high rangeability in low steam velocity pipelines for reduction and control of superheated steam, where excess temperatures will harm the product.
With adequate controls, these units provide an efficient means of atomising spray water over wide flow rates while maintaining downstream steam temperature to within 1°C of saturation. The desuperheaters are easily installed directly into the steam line with standard option being for perpendicular mounting.
The steam atomising devices use high pressure steam to vaporise the water. A fraction of the main flow is bled off from the high pressure system and fed to a nozzle arrangement where water is injected into the high velocity steam flow.
Compact in design, the desuperheaters provide good atomisation with a turndown ratio of 30:1. Available in 316 stainless steel or carbon steel, they are suitable for various applications where balancing or make-up steam is required in reduced pressure systems in refineries and process plant.
