Gateway type serial transmission system

Pneumatics & Hydraulics
Reduced wiring and fieldbus communication systems from SMC are now a very powerful and user-friendly way of installing valve bank islands for all pneumatic applications. The gateway unit has the option of remote I/O, DeviceNet or Profibus-DP network protocols. The transfer of information to and from these valve islands is made possible through the gateway type serial transmission system, which offers a maximum of 128-point control per unit with 64 inputs and 64 outputs, using four branches each with 16 I/O points. Since the communications to the branch units are separate from the master PLC transmission, there is no need to worry about transmission delay time.
All equipment is IP65-rated which enables the user to drive valve banks and at the same time receive information back from inputs, which could be pressure switches or actuator reed switches, in environments where there is direct contact with water. The use of standard M8 and M12 connectors between equipment reduces wiring time and prevents miswiring. Since power supply lines are included in all cables, separate power supplies for the serial interface units and input devices are unnecessary.
The valve banks comprise of the SV series SMC valves (low power consumption: 0,5 W) and CV factors of either 0,27 and 0,7. The option of including a relay output module unit within the valve bank, which can handle 120 V a.c. and 2 A, enables external equipment to be driven simultaneously with the valves. Compact in size, and modern in design, make this gateway unit a powerful addition to the control options for intelligent valve islands from SMC.

Pneumatics & Hydraulics
Those working with hydraulic or pneumatic systems know that keeping your machinery running at peak performance balances productivity and cost. As systems age, they often become less efficient, requiring more energy and more frequent repairs. The good news is that you don’t always need to invest in an entirely new machine to solve these problems.
