‘Spacial’ is the category name given by Schneider Electric Universal Enclosures to its steel and stainless steel enclosure ranges. This includes all metal enclosures from small industrial boxes to large floor standing cabinets.
The Spacial range includes the wall-mount S3D and CRN mild steel and S3X stainless steel enclosure ranges. On the floor standing side are the Spacial SF, SM and SD cabinets and control desks, which can be seen in the advert elsewhere in this feature. These are also available in stainless steel version, Spacial SFX, SMX and SDX.
Mild steel enclosures, powder coated with epoxy modified polyester base coating, are recommended for the dirty indoor environments found in industrial processing and manufacturing plants. Stainless steel is for hygienic installations or where resistance to chemicals is required. It is commonly used in the food beverage and pharmaceutical industries. Spacial SF is the range of steel floor standing enclosures. It is a modular system available in kit form or with free assembly by Elen Enclosures. The modularity allows over 600 configurations with the ability to mount doors on all sides and offering a multitude of chassis mounting systems and accessories. The system is ideal for automation, distribution and rack applications including data/server cabinets in the industrial, energy and building industries.
Easy to install, the Spacial SF system has been designed to save up to 25% assembly time. Its framework design, based on the use of a unique rigid steel profile with 18 successive folds, makes the steel enclosures of Spacial SF the most robust on the market, capable of withstanding 1000 kg distributed in the volume. The basic structure consists of top and bottom frames and four vertical uprights. The door is made of sheet steel and supported by reinforcement profiles. Degree of ingress protection is IP55 in accordance to IEC60529.
Spacial SM is a steel floor standing monobloc cabinet made from a single metal sheet folded and welded on the corners for robustness. Spacial SM offers the largest dimensional range on the market with 46 sizes. SM cabinets are capable of withstanding 600 kg distributed across the volume. Their IP rating is IP55 and the functionality offered by SF perforated profiles can be achieved in the SM range by the addition of optional internal profiles, allowing the mounting of many different chassis systems.
Spacial SD Steel control desks and consoles are made from folded and welded sheet steel. Degree of protection is IP55 and there are eight size options in the desk version and eight in the console version. The desk lid is fitted with a pneumatic stay, with 75° opening angle and has perforated reinforcement rails on 25 mm pitch. Doors, lid and console hinged cover closure is by 3 mm double bar lock (other inserts available). Chassis plate mounting is depth adjustable on rails with 25 mm pitch. A two-part adjustable cable gland plate with polyurethane gasket is standard. Certification is to Bureau Veritas IEC60529.
