Valves, Actuators & Pump Control

Electronic I/O and pneumatic valve island

September 2001 Valves, Actuators & Pump Control

Bürkert have developed an easy way to combine process actuation, electronic I/O and fieldbus.

In line with its strategy to offer customised system solutions at any level of process automation, Bürkert has introduced AirLINE; a revolutionary valve island concept with integrated electronic I/O modules and fieldbus connectivity.

This remote process actuation control system offers virtually any combination of valve island functionality, electronic inputs, outputs and fieldbus connectivity in a compact and revolutionary design. It offers the freedom to choose between Phoenix Contact inline and Wago 750 electronic input and output modules to create a fully integrated fieldbus communication, process valve actuation and control platform.

With the 6524 and 6525 valves used in AirLINE, Bürkert offers a new range of compact pilots with high flow rates. The number of valves and their combination is fully customisable to meet exactly any process needs. The mechanical and electronic integration of the valve island with the fieldbus and the I/O modules is done automatically while mounting the components to a DIN rail. There is no wiring necessary between the different modules.

AirLINE integrates established remote I/O technologies into Bürkert's Easy Process Control Strategy based on the innovative technologies of Easy LINK and Easy NET. Thus, the product is much more than just a valve island. Its multifunction capabilities permit different types of Bürkert sensors to be connected, selecting the appropriate electronic modules. The device can control all types of Bürkert solenoid and process valves systems. This means high application flexibility and cost-effective adaptation of high quality standard modules, offering up to 80% lower total cost of ownership compared with conventional solutions.
