Motion Control & Drives

A single drive for all needs

November 2013 Motion Control & Drives

Designed for flexibility, reliability and energy efficient power transfer, Varispeed’s next-generation Yaskawa A1000 is a premium inverter drive suitable for a wide field of applications. The A1000 runs both induction motors and synchronous motors, with high performance open or closed loop vector control giving outstanding regulation, torque production and position control. The drive provides a powerful drives solution on 200-400, 380-480 and 500-600 V applications up to 630 kW. All major communications protocols are supported.

A variety of designs are available to protect the A1000 against harsh environments. It has Safe Torque Off (STO) functional safety in compliance with EN954-1 safety category 3 stop category 0; EN ISO 13849-1 PLC; and IEC/EN61508 SIL2. The drive is compact, with side-by-side mounting possible.

Cooling fan, capacitors, relays, and IGBTs have been carefully selected and designed for a maintenance-free life expectancy up to 10 years. All standard models are equipped with a Parameter Copy function that allows parameter settings to be easily copied from the drive or uploaded for quick setup by the operator.

The Yaskawa Swing PWM function suppresses electromagnetic and audible motor noise while continuous auto-tuning optimises performance by compensating for changes in motor temperature. Fast acting current and voltage limiters help achieve continuous drive operation during periods of excessive demand and high slip braking reduces installation costs and the need for dynamic braking resistors. Whether for new installations or retrofits, the A1000 provides a single robust solution for simple fans and pumps through to complex machinery, regardless of the application.
