Yaskawa's energy efficient elevator solutions

September 2013 Motion Control & Drives

Globally, over 150 000 lifts are driven by Yaskawa motors and drives and Yaskawa has an impressive track record in the business. The L1000A inverter drive is designed for three million full load starts. Cooling fans and capacitors have been carefully selected to give at least 70 000 hours of maintenance-free operation and it has advanced control functions to run induction and permanent magnet (PM) motor applications in geared or gearless elevator systems. With motor capacities ranging from 4 to 110 kW, the L1000A is capable of driving almost any elevator. In addition, it is easy to install and can be integrated into almost any system.

Energy and cost efficiency are primary advantages of the L1000A drive. It is easy to set up and has a long maintenance-free life. Featuring performance monitors, an automatic evacuation function (drops the cabin to the nearest floor in the event of a power failure) and advanced motor and drive technology, it offers gearless PM motor control and built-in braking transistors for all models up to 30 kW.

Elevator-dedicated functions, parameter names and units provide an interface in the language of users. This includes flexible I/Os for hassle-free operation, setup without un-roping and easy parameter copy. The ride profile adjustment with selectable ramp times and five-point jerk settings allows for smooth rides and high landing accuracy. Rollback prevention without a load sensor ensures a shock free start, overshoot suppression, anti-vibration control and robustness.
