The MIG16-2 impulse generator and HV test system from Megger provides a safe, efficient and easy-to-use solution for testing and pinpointing various types of cable faults over a wide range of power cables. It comes in a rugged, portable enclosure and its IP64 rating makes it suitable for use in environmentally hostile conditions. The MIG16-2 fills the gap in the market for portable field equipment where an impulse generator (thumper) and proof tester are needed, but not the cable fault capabilities of an MTDR.
The compact, portable system delivers a powerful 8 and 16 kV 1500 joule surge impulse capability with the added benefit of DC insulation testing up to 20 kV. Combining the MIG16-2 with the MPP2000 pinpointer allows for safe, rapid testing and pinpointing of faults in cable networks. The MIG16-2 is designed to provide quick, effective, accurate and safe fault location, reducing system outages and minimising loss in productivity.
