Ultrasonic technology from AT Technical Services
August 2012
Level Measurement & Control
AT Technical Services’ ultrasonic level transmitters allow simple and reliable non-contact level measurement of fluids or bulk solids in tanks or silos. The microprocessor-controlled circuit generates a pulse that is transmitted from the transducer face and reflected back from the surface under measurement. The transit time is then converted into an output, directly proportional to the level.
Electronic circuitry automatically filters out false echoes that may be produced by peripheral obstructions in the tank. For example, a pipe or ladder that is in the ultrasonic cone (but not directly in front of the transducer’s face) will be ignored. The ABM series has a proprietary circuit that filters out these erroneous echoes.
Units are offered with 2 wire HART protocol for easy set-up and calibration and the current output (4-20 mA) can power a load of up to 750 ohms. Digital readouts with optional set points for self-co ntained alarm/control systems can also be supplied.
