Pepperl+Fuchs is a leading supplier of intrinsic safety barriers and its K-system of isolators support this fact. With an extensive range of isolators that have always fulfilled customer plant requirements, the company says it has observed that the tendency towards single loop integrity – despite the capital outlay and extra space implications.
The KC modules are the latest generation in the family of DIN rail mountable, galvanic isolators. Only 12,5 mm wide, these barriers can reduce cabinet space requirements by up to 38,5%. The devices offer the same benefits as the existing K-system, with a broad product range and reliable signal integrity. A modern circuit design results in reduced power dissipation, keeping the cabinet cooler and ensuring longer life. The KC-module barriers have intrinsically safe outputs and offer full galvanic isolation.
The 12,5 mm KC modules have all the features of the proven 20 and 40 mm wide KF modules. KC modules can be mounted along with KF barriers on the same power rail system making hazardous location applications more economical, simple to design and easy to install. The modules are HART enabled and SIL 2 as standard, for certain applications a SIL 3 rated unit is available. Monitoring is through collective error messaging via the power rail. All modules have LEDs to monitor device status, DIP switches for quick field configuration, removable terminal blocks and large label carriers.
