Process weighing for the chemical industry

The Sartorius PR5230 provides an easy and reliable solution for weighing of process hopper scales with strain gauge load cells in process automation applications. The standard RJ45 connector provides ModBus TCP and also Ethernet TCP/IP for easy integration into existing PLC and PC networks. Information can be transferred into supervisory systems via the OPC Server technology. IP address can be assigned via three options:

1. Manual input of the IP address by the user.

2. Automatic assignment from network server (DHCP).

3. Auto IP, self-assign by the instrument.

If the IP Address is not known by the user, a small tool scans the network and displays the IP addresses and names of all Sartorius instruments that are connected. With this functionality, all instruments/scales can be clearly identified. The tool is delivered with the transmitter and does not require installation. For configuration VNC technology is used, enabling users to start the homepage of the instrument in Microsoft Internet Explorer and do the configuration online. Additionally, the ConfigureIt Professional tool is available, allowing configurations to be done offline and saved to a PC.

The transmitter provides RS-232 and RS-422/485 serial interfaces using SMA-Standard protocol for a remote display. A printer can also be connected and, as an option, a high-performance analog output is available. Three freely configurable digital in and relay outputs control functions like limits.

Housed in polished stainless steel to IP66, all connections are made by compression couplings. Additional security guarantees full galvanic isolation of the sensor input circuit from the supply voltage. ATEX Ex approved versions for use in Zone 2/22 and intrinsically safe connection for load cells in Zone 1/21 are also available.
