NewElec’s 100M Series of electronic motor protection relays are compact in design and are ideally suited for fitting into gate-end boxes for protecting underground coal cutting machinery and transformers.
Motors and machinery are provided with protection against phase unbalance and loss, even on lightly loaded motors. The relays accommodate the thermal withstand capabilities of the protected motor and provide thermal protection for supply cables, as well as overall short circuit protection.
Warning LEDs indicate when the respective threshold settings are exceeded. In the event of a trip, the respective LED and the main trip LED are latched in order to assist maintenance personnel in identifying the cause of the trip.
The 100M Series is available in ampere calibration from 5 to 360 A, split over three ampere ranges, or in percentage calibration. Selectable motor starting curves from 2 to 10 s, as well as a thermal envelope that exactly accommodates the duty design parameters of the motor are available. This is achieved by selecting thermal lock-out periods ranging from 30 s (120 stop-starts per hour) to 10 minutes (6 stop-starts per hour).
The main trip relay comprises one n/o and one n/c contact. The short circuit protection trip contact is a dedicated n/o designed to operate a shunt trip on a backup circuit breaker.
During operation the relays ensure that the main contactor is not used to clear potentially damaging high energy faults. User-friendly labelled setting up dials indicate motor load, start time and short circuit levels. Any fault condition is identified by panel mounted latched fault diagnostic LEDs.
With a small 52 x 113 mm footprint, the relays plug into a chassis-mounted 11-pin base for ease of maintenance.
Unpacking the technoeconomic case for cleaner power in wastewater plants Schneider Electric South Africa
Electrical Power & Protection
Behind every reliable wastewater plant is an electrical system exposed to the effects of harmonics, voltage distortion and overloaded networks caused by fleets of variable speed drives on pumps and aerators.Together, they steadily drive up maintenance demands and elevate the risk of failure.
