Remote access to field devices is a huge benefit for engineers and technicians doing remote maintenance or troubleshooting, or requiring secure, dedicated access to a device. However, at times it is not feasible to use cabling or wireless to connect these units to an existing Ethernet infrastructure due to factors such as distance, terrain or infrastructure costs.
