The IP67-sealed TP temperature transmitter from ifm electronic offers the latest in electronics and connector technology. The temperature plug requires less space, performs better and costs less than cumbersome, leaky, outmoded boxes.
ifm already supplies Type TT or TS Pt 100 and Pt1000 temperature pickups with an integral M12 connector. These facilitate connection and also provide a seal of at least IP67 standard with a robust mechanical link. The probe can now be plugged directly into the TP, which sends the resulting measurement as a 4–20 mA signal back to the panel via another M12 sealed connector. The use of M12 connectors all round allows the transmitter to be mounted anywhere between the probe and the panel according to space or other requirements.
According to ifm electronic, the TP is a fraction of the size of a head transmitter, is more robust and is itself sealed to IP67 standard. The built-in communication protocol is the latest IO-Link, so it can be scaled from a PC using a USB interface. This means that in the future it will be possible to send scaling instructions via other non-proprietary systems.
