Reliable textile moisture/density measurement

Fluctuating moisture levels in cones of yarn will effect the 'stop' rates in weaving machines, in the colouring process it effects consistency, and therefore the quality.
The Malcam MMA-8010 Moisture and weight measurement system from Absolute Automation permits fast and accurate measurement. This may be used to great advantage when working with processes requiring good moisture/density uniformity. Spinning, weaving and dying are all areas in the textile industry that stand to benefit from being able to maintain uniform moisture/density ratios.
The MMA-8010 has an accuracy of ±0,3% when measuring moisture in cottons and yarns. The unit makes use of a microwave scanning technique, mapping the cone into different regions. Insensitive to chemicals, it does not suffer from the same problems associated with other measurement techniques that make use of capacitance or resistive measurement.
Using signal processing technology, and Malcam's WinMal MMA software, the device measures the moisture content of the whole volume of each package, providing accurate and reliable readings - without physical contact with the product. Running under Windows 98, or NT, the software takes into account both the package weight and deviations in sizes during the inspection process. Reports include the lot date (for a batch of yarn/cotton packages), the moisture, date and time of inspection, weight and package/buyer ID. The software can also display statistical data in graphic format, and print reports.
