Baumer has expanded its magnetic sensor portfolio with three new families of magnetic proximity switches. This new product group can detect magnetic fields at distances of up to 60 mm, in some cases even through metal walls.
The housings of the new switch range MFxM are compact rectangular or standard M8 and to some extent they are identical to standard inductive sensors. As a result, an easy replacement is possible when larger sensing distances are required, or metal parts influence the inductive sensor’s detection capability. The large sensing range can provide increased tolerances, thus compensating for any rocking motion of the object under detection.
Since the sensors only detect magnetic fields they can be applied without problem with metal in front of the sensing face, allowing the sensor as well as the permanent magnet to be installed in a protected way. Especially in outdoor applications such as in agricultural implements, cranes or lifting vehicles, this provides additional robustness.
