Schneider Electric, in association with Derceto, Echologics (a division of Mueller Water), i20 Water, TaKaDu and Telvent, has announced the creation of Smart Water Networks (SWAN), a global industrial alliance formed to promote the development and adoption of data-driven systems for better water network management and operation.
“SWAN is a complete ecosystem created to support the development of smart water networks for system integrators, industry experts and leaders in the water industry,” says Guy Horowitz, chairman of SWAN and vice president for marketing of TaKaDu. “As water network management becomes increasingly complex and generates an ever growing volume of data, it is vital for industrials to join forces to propose smart solutions.”
Members of the SWAN alliance want to promote the enhanced processing of data in order to rationalise and increase the efficiency of water distribution networks, guaranteeing improved infrastructure management for both vendors and utilities. With instrumentation and telemetry playing a growing role in the industry, a new layer of smart data applications has become possible.
The first SWAN Forum was held from 17-18 May at the corporate headquarters of Schneider Electric. Forum participants exchanged views on the solutions and technologies that will make water networks smarter, more efficient and more sustainable in the future. Over the two days, the Alliance leaders and members discussed the opportunities, challenges and next steps in promoting the adoption of smart water networks. The Forum also showcased solutions designed to make the measurement, capture and analysis of data even smarter.
