Ethernet I/O for remote monitoring over GPRS

May 2011 Data Acquisition & Telemetry

Moxa has announced its new ioLogik W5340 Active GPRS I/O. The ioLogik comes with four AIs, eight DIOs, and two relay outputs and is Moxa’s first active Ethernet I/O that uses GPRS communication technology. The ioLogik W5340 allows for a wider coverage area and is perfectly suited for hard-to-wire locations for remote monitoring and alarm applications, such as unmanned site monitoring, riverside and pipeline monitoring.

The W5340 and Moxa’s Active OPC Server make it easy to create a remote monitoring and alarm system in GPRS dynamic IP environments. Remote ioLogik units will automatically establish communications with an active OPC server using a fixed IP. The server will then receive and register the ioLogik’s IP address and will also receive and record tag updates. Because the system supports Moxa’s powerful active OPC server, it can be easily integrated with scada systems. In addition to supporting the standard OPC protocol, communications between Moxa’s ioLogik series of active GPRS I/O products and scada systems is possible with instant I/O status.

The ioLogik W5340 features many additional functions, such as power saving, data-logging, active alarm messaging, making it an excellent choice for remote GPRS monitoring and alarm systems.
