Mettler Toledo has developed the Risk Check, a powerful online tool to analyse the weighing risk of balances of any manufacturer. Risk Check defines the weighing risk in order to improve the performance and quality of weighing results. It is based on the international weighing guideline, Good Weighing Practice (GWP), which is useful for persons in charge of quality management in the pharmaceutical, chemical and food and beverage industries.
Risk Check is based on a set of eight questions, allowing users to get expert advice according to the individual weighing risk and showing how to optimise the quality and performance of the tested balance. Risk Check is applicable to all kinds of balances, independent of model, type or manufacturer. A compliance chart shows the degree of the weighing risk – as long as the index is in the green area, the weighing is risk low. However, if the result appears in the red area, weighing processes may be subject to an abnormally high uncertainty of measurement.
In highly regulated environments such as the pharmaceutical industry, controlling weighing systems and processes is an everyday task for quality managers. At regular intervals, external auditors will test the quality system of a company according to industry standards. This tool offers the possibility to analyse and improve the quality management of weighing processes and serves as a ‘mock audit’ in rehearsal for the actual event.
