Coriolis meters for aggressive media

Impact Measurement Solutions has introduced its range of Coriolis meters sourced from KEM Kueppers in Germany which it says are ideally suited to measure mass flow, density, temperature and volume of aggressive and contaminated media.
The principle of operation involves two parallel flow tubes inside the meter that vibrate in opposite directions at their resonant frequency. Any mass flow passing through the tubes will delay the vibration at the incoming side and accelerate the vibration at the outgoing side. This causes a small time delay at ends of the tube that is measured and proportional to the mass flow through the tubes.
The mass of the medium and, given a constant volume inside the tubes, the specific gravity, can be calculated. As both effects are temperature dependent, this is measured via a compensating sensor up to 100°C and 350 bar.
The flowmeters can be supplied with a transmitter that features a pulse output, two 4-20 mA analogue outputs and RS485 or RS232 interfaces. EX protection is to ATEX and EMC requirements.
