Touch panel PCs for hazardous areas

March 2011 IS & Ex

Enhanced functionality and performance with LED technology.

Bartec’s Polaris touch panel PCs with LED technology are an innovative enhancement of the existing range of Polaris panel PCs for hazardous areas. Available in 145, 265 and 310 mm sizes, these devices have been designed for the easy handling of simple machines such as mixers, dryers or filling stations and for the control and supervision of complex machines such as reactors, centrifuges or ball mills. All devices have been designed for use in zone 1 and 2, as well as in zone 21 and 22, allowing for the permanent housing and use of the PCs within hazardous areas.

The high-resolution displays with LED background illumination and a touch-screen allow for intuitive and easy handling. Even with large viewing angles or under unfavourable light conditions, the new LED display technology guarantees optimal contrast. The proven LX800 processor offers sufficient processing power to display HTML pages or to serve as a remote client for high-performance visualisation and handling of processes on site.

The latest software enables users to work under Windows XP Embedded, eg, to transmit projects via Ethernet, to use graphic lists or to handle integrated user management. An intrinsically safe USB interface for USB Ex I-memory sticks is also included and an intrinsically safe mouse, trackball and touchpad can be connected. Units can be supplied in a stainless steel housing if required.
