Rockwell Automation recently earned TÜV certification for the B10d Functional Safety rating on all styles of Allen-Bradley emergency-stop (e-stop) pushbuttons. This safety certification allows users to take the certified safety product data and include it in the calculation of the safety level of an entire control safety system. This helps improve worker safety as designers have greater insight into when components will need to be replaced or repaired, which helps ensure control system reliability.
E-stop pushbuttons are a critical component for automation systems – they are used to cease motion to help prevent injury to workers or damage to machinery. For example, in an emergency that might escalate into a hazardous situation, an operator would press the e-stop button to stop the machine, preventing further risk to the worker or the system.
By achieving third-party validation from a globally recognised standards body, Rockwell Automation demonstrated its commitment to enhancing the overall functional safety of automation systems to help better protect workers, improve machine performance and ultimately increase productivity for its customers.
