Adder’s new AdderLink Infinity introduces leading IP capability by delivering fluid interaction with computers as far as the network extends. The unit allows users to build flexible infrastructure, locate computers anywhere, share connections, share control, collaborate, switch computers and watch the interactions others have with computers.
Adder’s expertise in IP-based KVM solutions allows users to get high video quality and fluid USB-based interactions on the computer. The company’s True Emulation technology has also been built into the AdderLink Infinity, allowing connection to all HID (human interface devices) as well as storage and other USB device types. Optimised for both HID and mass storage devices, the system uses USB 2.0 technology to deliver reliable and flexible device support.
Features include:
* Multicasting.
* Mixed receiver.
* Share mode.
* Intelligent video encoding.
* USB interface control.
Users can configure network topology to best suit their needs. Distance is not limited – a standard network cable will deliver IP traffic up to 100 metres away. If this is not sufficient, adding a network achieves an additional 100 metres. In the case of a private network under management, users can control the data rates generated by each Tx unit to ensure stability.
Applications range from medical imaging and consultation in a hospital environment to monitoring of movement in traffic control applications as well as media production, architecture and advertising networks. In digital signage, content can be transmitted from a single device via DVI to as many screens as required. In audio/video applications the system is ideal for users requiring access to remote devices.

A single platform for all automation functions
Beckhoff Automation
Fieldbus & Industrial Networking
The introduction of TwinCAT in 1996 marked a decisive evolutionary step for PC-based control. Today, the TwinCAT platform combines all automation functions in a strictly deterministic real-time environment, from PLC and motion control through CNC and measurement technology and beyond, to vision, robotics and pioneering AI tools.

Loop signature Part 2-2: Feedforward Control: Part 1
Michael Brown Control Engineering
Fieldbus & Industrial Networking
Feedforward control is a powerful technique that can dramatically improve control variance in cases where load changes cause big deviations from setpoint and the actual process dynamics are too slow to allow the feedback controller to operate fast enough to catch these disturbances.
