The third generation Raytek MI3 series combines innovation, performance and low installation cost per temperature measurement point. These miniature pyrometers are designed to provide high-performance noncontact monitoring in a broad range of applications, including those where more than one measurement point is required such as wash-down and sterilisation processes in the food and bottling industries.
The sensor with integrated electronics is packaged in a rugged IP65 protected stainless steel housing. All parameters are externally accessible and configured through the standard user interface and backlit LCD display, or using the Raytek DataTemp Multidrop software via the standard USB interface.
A new innovation is digital communication between the sensor and the communication box, enabling plug-and-play connection where sensors are automatically recognised and the need for calibration codes is eliminated. The sensors can also be integrated easily into most control systems via their internal digital bus. The removal of cable bending effects allows continuous reliable measurement in moving installations such as robotic arms, and linear drive chains. Precision silicon optics provides resolutions, temperatures and spectral responses to cater for a wide range of demanding OEM applications.
The MI3 sensor is equipped with a separate communication module, which allows up to 8 individually addressable heads to be installed via the multichannel sensor interface. All units provide self-diagnostic capabilities, fast (20 ms) response times, optically isolated relay output, user configurable analogue outputs and a non-splintering protective window for food and beverage applications. The maximum temperature sensing range extends up to 1650°C.
