The Siemens Drive Technologies Division in Germany is increasing the upper power limit of its Sinamics G150 series of converters from 1500 to 2700 kW. These low voltage converters are designed for applications without regenerative feedback, for example those that involve moving, pumping or compressing substances.
Due to the variable speed drive operation with frequency converters, energy is saved. In the case of pumps, fans and compressors this can be by up to 70%. The cabinet units can be connected to 2-winding transformers. In order to minimise low frequency harmonic effects, 12-pulse operation on a 3-winding transformer is also available as a standard feature. IGBT power semiconductors and a special cooling concept ensure that the converters are quiet and compact in all available degrees of protection from IP20 to IP54.
Thanks to the AOP 30 advanced operator panel and the Starter PC tool, they are easy to commission and operate. Their rugged yet simple design makes the devices reliable and easy to maintain. When ordering, users can configure the standard options to suit their individual application.
