Nkanyezi Mazibuko is nearing the completion of his studies at Vega Instruments on a year’s learnership programme. The University of Johannesburg (UJ) student will be graduating early in 2011 with a National Diploma as an electrical engineering and instrumentation technician.

Born in Soweto, Nkanyezi matriculated from Reasoma Secondary School in 2006. He was encouraged as a school student to further his technical studies by his father, who is a foreman in the employ of Johannesburg Road Agencies. From here came the desire to increase his skills as an instrumentation technician and he says that his time at Vega Instruments has been invaluable from a practical point of view. He has been able to understand and apply the technology he has studied at UJ and has learnt a lot, not only on the technical side but also about the importance of business and time management Nkanyezi’s ambition is one day, with the help of a business management course, to be able to start his own business.
