German-based Rittal was founded to challenge the perception that electrical enclosures could not be made cost effectively in small quantities. Due to low volumes on custom panels, the market at the time struggled for repeatable quality and modularity; custom-built enclosures were also expensive and had long lead times. Rittal now mass produces around 15 000 enclosures per day in 16 production sites around the world. As a leader in cabinets and cooling units, Rittal’s approach is now demanded by the market.
The company says its customers do not only require an enclosure anymore, they look for a complete system. ‘Rittal – The System’ begins with the user identifying the devices and the application to be deployed. Software planning and calculation tools take physical sizes and heat dissipation into account in order to make product selection and assembly accurate efficient and repeatable. Modern technology and future-oriented methods guarantee enclosure and housing solutions of quality and economy. Fully automated welding, assembly and packaging lines guarantee constantly high product standards.
Customers from all sectors of industry, from mechanical and plant engineering to IT and telecommunications employ system solutions from Rittal. Its broad product range also includes complete solutions for modular and energy-efficient data centres: from innovative security concepts for data systems through to physical data and system security for IT infrastructure. The leading software providers Eplan and Mind8 – Rittal subsidiaries – supplement the Rittal product portfolio with interdisciplinary engineering solutions.
