The opening of a sales office in Cape Town in August 2010 signifies a continuation of Beckhoff’s aggressive growth in the South African market. Beckhoff intends to strengthen its sales activities in the Western Province further in response to economic growth and customer demand, particularly in the process, industrial automation and OEM manufacturer industries.
“We have already been active in the Western Cape market through direct support from Johannesburg since our establishment in 2006,” said Kenneth McPherson, technical sales manager for Beckhoff Automation. “With our new Beckhoff branch, we intend to further consolidate our sales network in the Western Cape and enhance support for our customers.”
Evan Willemse has been appointed sales engineer for Beckhoff Cape Town. He has thorough knowledge of the automation industry, is technically experienced and very familiar with the Western Cape market. Evan is responsible for starting, operating and continuing the growth of the Beckhoff business in the area. His passion is for new automation technology and all the benefits this brings above legacy automation systems.

“The local presence in the Western Cape is entirely in keeping with Beckhoff’s business philosophy of being close to the market and giving our customers optimum support. We will develop solutions with our products in such a way that they exceed the expectations of our customers. For this reason, we will be cooperating with them closely,” says Willemse.
“Our goal is to make system integrators and engineering customers more conscious of the advantages of PC and EtherCAT-based control technology and to bring them to the point where they can compete with the world’s leading systems,” explains Conrad Muller, managing director of Beckhoff Automation. “We will be bringing our technology and know-how more forcefully into the market by cooperation with our customers and through education of the automation industry.”
