Neles Axiom is a new on/off valve controller that can be used to replace a separate solenoid valve and limit switches in all standard on/off applications. It can be mounted on any rotary valve and single or double-acting actuator. Axiom can also be used in hazardous areas because it has intrinsic safety approvals.
To simplify actuator mounting, Axiom has a standard VDI/VDE mounting face. After mounting, it is easily calibrated using pushbuttons located on the device’s sealed membrane pad.
The controller has both HART and AS-I bus compatible versions. When either of these communication protocols is used, Axiom can provide fault alerts for on/off valve malfunctions. The device can detect and give alerts to indicate: low pneumatic supply pressure, a malfunctioning solenoid, a stuck pneumatic spool or pilot valve and a stuck process valve/actuator.
These fault alerts help in planning on/off valve maintenance actions and avoiding unexpected valve failures, which in turn reduce maintenance time and costs. The alerts can be seen both locally on the device itself and remotely through the HART or AS-I network. For the HART version, there is also a DTM user-interface, which makes it easier to interpret the fault alerts and simple fault diagnostics that are also provided by the DTM.
