Unitemp launches new flue gas analyser

May 2010 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Rising fuel costs highlight the need for efficiency through measuring and monitoring emission levels. In addition, in line with the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act of 2004, compliance and monitoring of emissions and pollutants will from this year become a requirement. Fines will apply should companies emit air pollutants at concentrations above the stipulated emission limits.

A practical, easy-to-use emission analyser for a variety of applications

The new four sensor testo 340 flue gas analyser provides reliability and convenience in emissions measurement for industrial burners, stationary industrial engines, gas turbines, and other thermal processes. The 340 analyser replaces the widely popular 335 analyser with the following additional benefits:

* The 340 is equipped with a standard O2 sensor. Three additional gas sensors, such as CO, COlow, NO, NOlow, NO2 or SO2, can be individually configured at any time so the analyser is optimally suited to the measurement application.

* Compact design combined with reliable engineering makes the analyser ideal for commissioning, service and maintenance work as well as for monitoring purposes.

* The differential pressure and flow measurement is integrated as standard.

* CO and NO sensors possess replaceable filters.

* The unique measuring range extension feature facilitates measurements even at high gas concentrations due to automatic sensor protection at these extremes.

The analyser allows connection for viewing, transmitting and printing of readings by means of EasyEmission software.

At its peak in 1994, the energy generation capacity of the UK’s nuclear power stations was 12,7 GW across 16 plants. In 2024, the capacity has fallen to around 5 GW, and the number of stations is down to nine. However, this is far from the end of the story as spent nuclear fuel remains radioactive for centuries, and requires rigorous safety processes to safeguard against leaks.
