Following the introduction of Fast Ethernet into industry, there is now a trend toward higher data rates using devices with high data volumes or extended real-time requirements. The new generation of M12 plug connectors from Phoenix Contact have been designed to establish Gigabit Ethernet connections in harsh industrial environments.
M12-Cat6A plug connectors combine a robust and compact design with a high degree of security for distributed automation structures. Data transmission rates of up to 10 Gigabit per second along cables of up to 100 metres is possible. Using its experience with high-frequency signal transmission, Phoenix Contact has developed an innovative shield system, including shielding of the individual data pairs. This makes high-speed data transmission in environments with a high degree of electromagnetic noise achievable.
Device manufacturers and machine builders can now integrate this standard into their products at an early stage. In addition to panel feed-throughs, moulded cables as well as plug connectors that can be fabricated in the field are available.
